Crossing to Safety
This was the Modern Mrs. Darcy Book Club pick for September. It's very literary and character driven. That's code for not a lot happened and kind of slow. Parts of it were beautiful, so it's worth the read.
With You Always
This was a really nice historical romance. I enjoyed the setting and the story. It's the first book in a new series. I'll probably pick up the next book when it comes out. It was a good comfort read.
Still Life
I have been slowly collecting these mysteries on my Kindle as they have gone on sale. I finally got around to reading the first book in the series. I loved it. I'm definitely a fan now. Thankfully, I have the next seven on hand.
The Women in the Castle
I've been meaning to read this book pretty much all year. I think I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I was wrong. I loved it. It was heavy and a little dark, but I'm still thinking about it. Highly recommended.
Young Jane Young
This was a fun light read. I found it to be on the fluffy side although, I think it took itself a little seriously. One thing I didn't care for was how the child in the story was written. She was very smart and precocious in one chapter, and whiny and immature in the next. She annoyed me a little. Overall, I enjoyed the first half of the story than the second half.
What books did you read this month? Have you read any on my list? Let me know in the comments.
