Book Review: Wooing Cadie McCaffrey by Bethany Turner

Wooing Cadie McCaffrey

I have mixed feelings about this book. For the most part, it was a cute rom-com. I liked the sports setting and references. I appreciated the struggle the main characters felt trying to live out their faith in every day life. I really had to suspend my disbelief though, that these two people in their early thirties, that had been dating for four years, had never had a serious conversation about marriage. I feel like that set the story up for frustration instead of a charming romance. 

The second half of the book was better than the first half, and I started to have some sympathy for the characters and not just want to yell at them. If you like rom-coms, you should give this one a try. It's cute and funny. It's just a little frustrating at times.

Bout of Books Day 1 Challenge ~ Book to Movie Adaptations

I'm really excited to start Bout of Books today! I'm hoping to get a lot of reading done this week, and see my TBR shrink a little.

Today's challenge is favorite and least favorite book to movie adaptations.

My favorite:

I have so many feelings for this movie. It was actually an improvement over the book. Our local movie theater showed it recently, and my husband took me to see it. I had never seen it on the big screen. It was amazing. So sweet and cute and funny. I want to reread the book one day soon.

My least favorite:

 

I have really mixed feelings about this whole series, but this was my favorite of the books. I feel like the story really fell apart in the next one. The movie was so boring. About halfway through, I was ready to leave. Or fall asleep. The fact that the people behind us talked the whole time didn't help. Neither did the fifteen unsupervised middle schoolers that came in right before the previews started. It was the worst movie experience ever.

It's been a while since I did a movie post. I was looking at my past chick flick lists here and here and realized there were a few that I missed, and there are a few new ones. Elin and I have recently discovered Hallmark Channel movies. If I can't find them on Netflixs, I can usually find them at the library. All of these should be reasonably clean flicks:

My girls and I love to watch movies together. We compiled a list the other day of our favorites. These are movies all three of liked or loved. If anyone turned their nose up at the suggestion, it didn't make the list. We found that we like a lot of movies, so I'm going to split them into two different posts. Our Favorite Movies

I am a movie buff. I like nothing better than going to the theater and seeing a really great movie with my family. This doesn’t happen very often, because the cost of a movie ticket is ridiculous. Most often we watch our movies at home. I have noticed lately it is getting harder to please everyone in my family with our movie choices.I guess it's the age spread. It seems there is always someone bored or unhappy or rolling their eyes. I have found a few movies we all can agree on. I thought I would share them with you in case you needed some ideas for a family movie night. These are all G or PG rated and fairly non-controversial:
