Why am I waiting? Well, it's Ted Dekker's daughter, so I'm curious to see how good a writer she is. Also, I have been wanting to read a good dystopian for a while.

Book Review: Still Life by Christa Parrish

Still Life is the second book I have read by Christa Parrish. I have several of her books on my Kindle, and I always mean to get around to reading them. I really enjoyed this one. It explores the themes of love, grace, grief, and finding your true home. I loved Ada's story, and I would have liked it if the entire book was about her. She and her husband have an interesting relationship. He rescued her from a cult where she was kept from the outside world.

 This book gives you a lot to think about. It is told from the POV of several characters. The author does an excellent job making each voice unique. The ending is left open for more story, so I am hoping for a sequel. 

I would recommend this book to someone who enjoys character driven fiction.

Why am I waiting? Nicole wrote the Threads of Change series, which is one of my favorites. Her characters are complex and you can't help but cheer for them. She writes excellent literary fiction.

Quick Lit ~ April Edition

Here are some of the books I have been reading lately.

I really enjoyed this memoir about friendship. I did a full review here.

I loved this frame story set in the present day and WW2. I reviewed it here.

Each of the books in this series are written by a different author. I wasn't really impressed with the first installment, but this one by Angela Hunt was pretty good. Sci-Fi with supernatural elements make for an interesting story.Each novella is under one hundred pages, so these are quick reads.

This book is more of a resource than a how-to or devotional. Each chapter covers a topic of prayer and a lot of scripture to refer to on that topic.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. The stories were well told, and I loved the themes of prayer and redemption that were woven through out. I highly recommend it.
