Why am I waiting? I have been reading Anne Bogel's blog for years and recently joined the Modern Mrs. Darcy book club. She takes reading seriously, and I'm excited to see what she has to say about reading and people's personalities.

Top Ten Tuesday ~ Books That Made Me Fall in Love With Christian Fiction

The church my husband and I first attended as a married couple had a fabulous library. It wasn't the first time I was introduced to Christian fiction, but it was the first time I had a lot of it to choose from. We didn't have cable, so reading was my main source of entertainment. Here are some of the books that I found during that time of my life.

August Wrap Up

I completed six books in the month of August. I wasn't really blown away by any of them. This was probably my least favorite reading month of the year so far. however, I did make progress on my Goodreads challenge, and I got a couple of reviews done. We'll call that a success! Here are the books I read and what I thought about them.

The Road to Paradise

This was a cute historical romance. I did a full review here.

Freedom's Ring

I loved the Boston setting. I did a full review here.

Do Not Become Alarmed

I didn't care for this one at all. It's supposed to be a thriller, but you know what's going on with the missing children the whole time. Also, the parents are just stupid and irresponsible. Not recommended.

The Almost Sisters

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I thought the love story was really sweet. I had some issues with some of the morals or lack there of, but the writing was really good. This was a Modern Mrs. Darcy book club pick, and we got to have a chat with the author. I have a couple of her books on my shelves that I want to check out.

The Lost Book of the Grail

This was my favorite book of the month. If it hadn't been in the Modern Mrs. Darcy summer reading guide I doubt I would have picked it up. Although it was set in the real world, the writing style reminded me of Stephen Lawhead. It also wrestled with some big questions about faith and religion. I'm not really sure how to describe it other than a literary mystery. If you enjoy books with lots of literary references, you should check it out.

The Identicals

I absolutely hated the people in this book. They were stupid. I don't really have much else to say except if there was a bad decision to make, they made it.

All of these covers are beautiful. I really love the simplicity of The Space Between Words and Reading People. I'm always a fan of a beautiful dress on the cover. I do think the cover model for I, Eliza Hamilton looks a little too modern, but the dress is gorgeous. Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments.

I now have the first seven Inspector Gamache books. I hear such good things about them. Now I just need to start reading them. A Fool and His Monet is free right now, so I picked that up. I have had my eye on Girl Waits With Gun for a while. I picked up the second book a few months ago, and the third one is coming out soon. Another series for me to collect and not read!
