Read. Sleep. Repeat. is hosting their annual ARC August Challenge. I have a lot of ARCs (Advanced Reader Copy) piling up, so I have decided to participate. Here are the ARCs I'll be choosing from:
I plan on updating my reading progress every week, so I'll keep you posted. I would love to get through all of these, and get completely caught up on my reviews by the end of summer. Thankfully, these are all books I have been looking forward to reading this year. Check out Read. Sleep. Repeat. for the rules of the challenge.
Here are some books with characters that love to read:
I was kind of surprised at how hard it was to find books with bookish characters. I looked at my last four years of reading on Goodreads and I could barely find ten. I'm looking forward to everyone else's list over at The Broke and the Bookish.
Luther and Katherina is for review. I also got a physical copy of Love Unexpected. It fell under the Kindle Matchbook program, so I got the ebook for cheap. Check out more book hauls at Tynga's Reviews.
Why am I waiting? I read this author's debut novel earlier this year. It has gotten a lot of buzz, but I was underwhelmed by it. It may have just been me, so I want to give Not by Sight a try. It sounds really interesting, and the cover is beautiful.
I really enjoyed this debut novel. I had been looking for a good dystopian series to start, and this one was what I was looking for. It was different from a lot of other dystopians. A lot of history is given on how things became the way they are, which I appreciated. The love story is well developed, and there is a mystery through out the story that lends a creepy feeling to the whole thing. There are a couple of cheesy scenes, but otherwise it is a real page turner with a satisfying ending. I am looking forward to reading book two when it comes out.
I have read some really good books lately. I was able to get a lot of reading done on our trip to Iowa for my In-Laws retirement. All of the books I have read over the past few weeks have been four and five stars, which is nice. Here are some of my most recent reads.
This was the book I read on vacation. Not exactly light reading, but it was so good. The parallel story lines were equally interesting, and the characters were real and believable. There are some hard scenes though, and the end is sad. I definitely needed something lighter after I read it.

This is probably the first Chick Lit I have ever completed and enjoyed. It was surprisingly deep with complex characters. It also made me want a puffin. You know, the bird. It didn't win me over to the genre, but I will check out more by this author.
This is the second book I have read by Melanie Dobson. I really enjoy her settings and she has some good plot twists in what is essentially a family drama. The characters rubbed me the wrong way sometimes, but if they never made bad decisions, it would have been a pretty boring story.
I"m only a few chapters into this debut dystopian, so I can't say much about it. I have been looking forward to reading it for months, and so far it's very good.
Here are some of the most recent books to magically appear on my Kindle:
Most of these were less than $2. I paid more for The Nightingale, but for the most part I wait for ebooks to go on sale. I plan on doing a post of my favorite ebook bargain blogs soon. Check out more top ten posts at The Broke and the Bookish.
