Waiting on Wednesday ~ The Fatal Tree

Today I am linking up with Breaking the Spine for Waiting on Wednesday, a weekly meme to showcase upcoming releases that we are really excited about. This week I am excited about:

18853210

When it releases: November 4th
Why I'm excited: This is the final book in The Bright Empires series. I have been waiting for this book for a year! A whole year, people! I don't usually read series, and I definately don't read series that go more than three books. But this one has held my attention. It has time travel, romance, adventure, the works. I already have it on hold at the library!

What books are you looking forward to?

Top Ten Tuesday ~ Character Driven Novels

Today I am linking up with The Broke and the Bookish for Top Ten Tuesday. This weeks topic is character driven novels, which I never read. I looked through my Goodreads list and came up with these ten books. Wheather or not they are character driven is up for debate, but they have strong characters that have stuck with me over time.

I loved all of these books, but I think my favorite of the ten is The Magic of Ordinary Days. Winter birds is great as well. What are some of your favorite character driven books?

Book Review: Miracle in a Dry Season

18652828 I really enjoyed this first installment in the Appalachian blessings series. The characters were well drawn and realistic. I love how the author brought magical realism into the story. The themes of grace and acceptance were prevelant through out. My only compliant is that the story seemed to climax too soon. Almost the final third of the book was spent on resolution. It seemed to drag a bit. Still, I will definitely check out the next book in the series. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy cozy historical books and fans of magical realism.
