Top Ten Tuesday ~ Favorite Quotes

Here are a few quotes from my favorite books this year. I wish I could say I keep a journal of quotes, but, alas, I do not. Thankfully, Goodreads has quotes on the book's homepage, so I got these from there. Enjoy!

The Story Keeper (Carolina #2)

“Sometimes a world that doesn’t exist is the only escape from the one that does.”

Secrets of a Charmed Life

“Truth is a strange companion. It devastates one moment and enthralls the next. But it never deceives. And because of that, in the end, it comforts.”

Home Is Where My People Are: The Roads That Lead Us to Where We Belong

“All I can figure is that my parents were either totally laid back or totally tired. I’m guessing that it was more of the latter, but either way, there really were some good lessons from that level of independence.”

Like a Flower in Bloom

“No. I’m afraid it would be quite impossible to use a hammer without hammering.”

Legend of Sheba: The Rise of a Queen

“What is love, but to hold dear without expectation? What is love, but first given devotion? What is love . . . But freedom.”

Beyond All Dreams

“Was there anything more inspiring than being able to look up and see oneself surrounded by thousands of books all the way to the ceiling three stories above?”

The Nightingale

“If I have learned anything in this long life of mine, it is this: in love we find out who we want to be; in war we find out who we are.”

The Sea Keeper's Daughters (Carolina #3)

“If Satan has toeholds that allow him to claw and climb from the underworld to this one, they lie in our failure to see ourselves in others.”

The Choosing

“I believe the flower’s purpose is not to be beautiful; it is to grow. Many seeds shrivel in the ground, but this one grew, and therefore it has been picked already, it is chosen already, it is beautiful already.”

Nobody's Cuter Than You: A Memoir about the Beauty of Friendship

“There are probably only a handful of times in our lives when someone who will change us forever walks in—when we find someone we can love with our whole hearts, who will challenge us and shape us and make us feel like the world is safer and brighter just because they are in it. A person who loves us for exactly who we are, yet teaches us to be better because of who they are and how they live their life.”
