Waiting on Wednesday ~ Embers by Ronie Kendig

What I'm waiting on:
Embers ( Abiassa's Fire, #1)

When does it release? October 16, 2015

Why am I waiting? I have heard good things about Ronie Kendig, but she usually writes military romances. Not a genre I would enjoy. I do enjoy fantasy, though, and this looks like a promising series.

Top Ten Tuesday ~ Books to Read if You Enjoyed The Nightingale

I read The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah earlier this year. It is one of my favorite books of the year, so far. I loved the dual time periods and the characters. It was very gritty and hard to read in some parts, but there was a lot of hope throughout the story. Here are ten books that remind of The Nightingale.

Secrets She KeptA Sparrow in Terezin (Hidden Masterpiece #2)Secrets of a Charmed LifeThe Butterfly and the Violin (Hidden Masterpiece, #1)The Sentinels of Andersonville
The Girl You Left BehindThe Hiding PlaceThe Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie SocietyThe Magic of Ordinary DaysChateau of Secrets

Waiting on Wednesday ~ On This Foundation

What I am waiting on:
On This Foundation (Restoration Chronicles, #3)

When does it release? October 6, 2015

Why am I waiting? Although this is not my favorite time period to read about, Lynn Austin is my favorite author. I always read her new releases. The is the final book in the Restoration Chronicles. I enjoyed the second book much better than the first, and I have high hopes that this will be the best of the three.

Waiting on Wednesday ~ The Bronte Plot

What I'm waiting on:
The Brontë Plot

When does it release? November 3, 2015

Why am I waiting? I enjoyed this author's debut novel, Dear Mr. Knightley, but I wasn't thrilled with her next book, Lizzy and Jane. I'm hoping I enjoy this one. I love the whimsical cover art and the title. I have already pre-ordered it.

Book Review ~ The Sword and the Song by C. E. Laureno

The Sword and the Song (The Song of Seare #3)

The Sword and the Song is the final installment in The Song of Seare series. I really enjoyed all three of these books. The world building is excellent. Seare is a beautiful island full of interesting characters and magic. I got very attached to the characters and very involved in their lives. I'm sad to say good bye to them. The author did leave the ending open so maybe there will be a companion series in the future? I would definitely read more stories set in this world. If you enjoy fantasy I would highly recommend this series. I would also recommend it to someone who is new to the genre. It is easy to follow the story line, and the character development is very good.

I received this book for free for the purpose of review from Tyndale.

My Brother's Crown (Cousins of the Dove #1)

Book Review ~ The Sea Keeper's Daughters

The Sea Keeper's Daughters (Carolina #3)

This is the third book in the Carolina trilogy by Lisa Wingate and it is my favorite of the three. This follows the story of Whitney Monroe as she tries to save her restaurant. She returns to her family's historic hotel in North Carolina in hopes to sell it, but she stumbles across several mysterious items that send her on a search for her roots and family members she didn't even know existed.

This novel is told with a contemporary story line and an historic story line that is told through letters. I enjoyed both equally. I thought the characters were engaging and well developed. I couldn't wait to uncover the mystery along with Whitney. I also loved the setting. It was the perfect end of the summer read. I would recommend reading the series in order. There are some loose ends that are tied up in this final book. I would recommend this whole series to women that enjoy literary historical fiction.

I received this book for free for review from Tyndale through Netgalley.
