This book was a DNF for me. I got almost halfway through and decided to put it aside. It moved very slowly and I wasn't really connecting with the characters. The romance seemed a bit cheesy to me, also. I don't really care for the whole girl dresses up like a boy and fools everybody trope. That's a lot of deception for me to buy into. I was disappointed in this book because I really enjoyed the first one so much. Still, if you like YA historical romance, you might want to give it a try, and I would definitely recommend the first book in the series, Dauntless.

I always start a Biblical fiction novel with a little hesitation. I have my own ideas about Bible characters that have been formed over many years. When I read Biblical fiction, I want a fresh idea of the character but a true account of the story. Angela Hunt has done both with this story of Bathsheba. I have read several novelizations of the David and Bathsheba story and this is definitely my favorite. The characters were so real and flawed. She captured the time period so well, which is very hard to do. I would not call this a romance, but a fictional biography. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would recommend this book to readers who like rich historical fiction.

Here are the authors that I but no matter what and, very often, at full price. That's saying a lot.
I think that's about it. Like I said earlier, I don't like to pay full price for books, so I usually wait for sales or get them through the library. Check out more Top Ten Tuesday posts at The Broke and the Bookish.
Not by Sight is an historical romance set in England during WW1. The main character, Grace Mabry is a suffragette and patriot. When she gives a white feather of cowardice to Jack Benningham, she thinks she will spur him to join the fight for their country. Instead, she is the one who learns a lesson.
I enjoyed this romance. It was a lot more light-hearted than I thought it would be. Grace was a strong heroine even though she was a bit naive through out the story. Jack was grumpy but likable. The main characters had really good chemistry.
I was disappointed that there wasn't more action in the story . Jack was a spy for the British, but he didn't do much spying. I also would have enjoyed more history woven into the plot. It felt like the book could have been set during any war and had all the same things happen.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy historical romance.
